November 4, 2023 - A protester raises the Palestinian flag as thousands marched in Berlin in solidarity with the Palestinian people, and in condemnation of the German government’s reprehensible support for Israel’s war crimes and apartheid. [video]

it is so disgusting watching other white people reassure each other about taking breaks from social media and “prioritizing your mental health” when literally the one thing Palestinians are asking for more than anything is that people do not look away from what is happening to them

shockingly on the no reading comprehension site, people have no reading comprehension

did i say “fuck you and your mental health” or did i say that it’s disgusting to watch white people reassuring each other about not paying attention to a genocide being enacted in real time (with direct contributions from their own governments in many cases) when that’s exactly what the victims are asking for?

sometimes bad things happen and you will feel bad about it! that is normal and does not mean that you should just ignore them happening! of course you feel sad, it’s fucking sad! of course you feel angry, it’s fucking horrific and unjust! none of this means you should should look away to remain comfortable and undisturbed

also no one expects you to ignore your own life and be glued to the news 24/7 so stop pretending this is what people mean by “pay attention”

article from 2022, just to put things into perspective:

Over half of Palestinian children in the besieged Gaza Strip have had suicidal thoughts in the past year, according to a report published by Save the Children on Wednesday. […]

Around 55 percent of children have contemplated suicide, while three out of five children have self-harmed, Save the Children revealed. […]

A report from Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor last year found that nine out of 10 children in Gaza suffered from some form of conflict-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). […]

Around 59 percent of caregivers documented an increase in youths experiencing difficulty in speech, language and communication, while 96 percent said they themselves felt unhappy and constantly anxious.

“The children we spoke to for this report described living in a perpetual state of fear, worry, sadness and grief, waiting for the next round of violence to erupt, and feeling unable to sleep or concentrate,” said Jason Lee, director for Save the Children in the occupied Palestinian territories.

“The physical evidence of their distress – bedwetting, loss of ability to speak or to complete basic tasks – is shocking and should serve as a wakeup call to the international community.”

you can tell a lot about someone based on their phone background. it shows what’s most important to them

Reblog this and put what your phone background in the tags

think it’s a deep consolation to know that spiders dream, that monkeys tease predators, that dolphins have accents, that lions can be scared silly by a lone mongoose, that otters hold hands, and ants bury their dead. that there isn’t their life and our life. nor your life and my life. that it’s just one teetering and endless thread and all of us, all of us, are entangled w it as deep as entanglement goes. v neat i think.

OK Tumblr Geriatric Ward, let’s talk about your posture-

image

there are things you should be doing now to prevent yourself from starting to look like 🥀

Why does it matter? Future you would like to avoid the pain, limited motion, and fall risk that goes along with worsening posture.

What’s the focus?

1. Keep the flexibility in your spine

2. Stretch the muscles in the front

3. Strengthen the muscle in the back

Here are some simple things you can do daily while sitting and when you get up to go into the bathroom or the kitchen

Keep the flexibility by doing these repeated movements: 10 repetitions several times a day

image

The goal is to give yourself a double or triple chin. Keep your nose pointing forward, don’t let it tip up or down

image

Thoracic extension- use a chair with a seat back that comes up to the level of your shoulder blades. Try to bend back over the top of the chair without arching away from the seat back and without extending your neck. If the pressure from the top of the chair is uncomfortable you can place a towel there

Stretch the muscles in the front by using a door frame. This one will feel good afterwards

image

If this isn’t enough of a stretch you can do one side at a time. If you have the right arm up step forward with the right foot and turn slightly to the left. Then do it on the other side.

image

Strengthen the muscles in the back by squeezing your shoulder blades together for a count of 10 and then repeating 10 times. You can do this several times a day Hint: Don’t lift your shoulder blades up

image

There are lots more exercises for strengthening your back muscles but this is a good starting point and easy to do. I like doing it while driving

Tips:

  • Do the best you can
  • If it hurts stop
  • Envision future you saying thank you each time you do one of the exercises

NOTE: I can do most of these with the cerebral palsy. In fact, a lot of these little exercises are automatically part of my physical therapy. My problem is I already have hyperlordosis, spine arthritis, and cervicogenic headache. These have helped me at least try to have a posture.

remembering the time i was at a sleepover in like 7th grade and i convinced my all-guy friend group that there was a movie out there called “adam sandlers Extremely ass” and they all believed i was telling the truth . i kept talking about it like “haha this reminds me of the dinner scene in adam sandlers extremely ass” as if it were a well known thing like i would go dude you HAVENT seen adam sandlers extremely ass and they spent like 30 minutes looking for it on demand

vaguely remember being fast asleep in the basement next to the couch when i was woken up by a tapping menu interface sound on the big tv they had down there and when i peered my head around the armrest i saw One Kid the only one in the house that was awake other than me with the tv remote in his hand searching for terms like “adam ass movie” “an extremely ass” “adam ass sandler movie” “very ass adam” and each time he found nothing he would just stare at the tv in disbelief

this is the only thing i can like concretely remember from when i was in middle school btw. like i can remember bits and pieces of that 3 year span but not any like whole experiences. but somehow this memory is the only one i can vividly recall. this one
